Interview Preparations
We first of all congratulate, all of you who have qualified the toughest part of the combined competitive examination which is the mains part. Now the last part of the selections process awaits you. This third stage of the examination demands altogether a different attitude from you people.
The interview carries 250 marks and it has to be taken very seriously as your rank and to some the very question of selection will depend on how you are able to present yourself before the interview panel.
Though your knowledge has already been tested in the mains examination, there is no guarantee that questions from your educational background and optionals won't be asked. So if time permits you try to recall.
The board may ask you tricky questions like what are your strengths and weaknesses, the things you would like to change in administration and so on, so you should prepare these questions in advance. Questions about your area, where you live, famous persons, famous places, historical importance, economy and problems of the the area are also asked.
Since you are going to be the future administrators of the state you should know the history, geography , economy and political scenario of the state and questions on this area can be opinion based especially on economy of the state.
You are also supposed to know a little bit of the administration especially planning, budget, single line administration and various government schemes(both central and state).
You should keep a view on the day to day happenings around the globe in common and in the state in particular and keep yourslef updated with current happenings especially in economy, science and technology and environment related issues.
The last and the most imprtant thing is that you cannot afford to say "Sorry sir" to Opinion based questions. You need to have an opinion of your own, so you should prepare on some critical and burning issues like corruption, female foeticide, women empowerment, environment, RTI etc.
And as suggested by Mr. Ab Gani Mir(IPS) that since you spend most of the time on facebook tell your friends to ask as many as possible questions, especially opinion based and prepare some answers.
We wish you luck for the examinations
